Miss Piggy For MAC: The Ultimate Icon
She might not like to admit she had humble beginnings: Miss Piggy doesn’t believe in anything that isn’t fabulous, and being humble is certainly not fabulous.
Miss Piggy started life as one of many in a gigantic cast on The Muppet Show. She battled the odds and formed a lasting romantic relationship with the main star, Kermit the Frog; the rest, they say, is history.
She is known for her cut throat honesty, her love of the dramatics and her overall glamorous demeanour.
She has bags of style, a phone book full of celebrity friends and admirers and a famous boyfriend who sings heartfelt songs about how self conscious he is about the way he looks.
She knows karate, she has her own perfume (‘Moi’) and she has been on the cover of Life magazine.
She likes pearls, black satin gloves and platinum blonde perms.
She has a tendency to be quite forceful about her opinions. That’s where her karate skills come into play.
She is one of the most insightful pigs of her generation.
“Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. It may be necessary from time to time to give a stupid or misinformed beholder a black eye.”
Okay, okay…I may have just got slightly carried away there! But the characterisation of Miss Piggy is a stroke of genius that was decades ahead of it’s time. Looking at the divas of today, with the likes of GaGa and Beyonce, Piggy was strutting her stuff and doing her own thing long before they showed up.
This post was inspired by the news that the range of makeup created in her honour by MAC will be hitting shelves in the UK to help promote the new Muppets movie (which still isn’t out yet!) this February.
Recreate the Piggy looks with bubblegum eye shadow, fluttering fake false lashes and thick liquid eyeliner.
She is the epitome of the diva, the icon and the woman; pretty good going for a puppet!
