It's just a tiny bit marvellous

Golden Globes 2013

Kristen Stewart wasn’t around so they had to pick on someone’s love life at the Golden Globes. It’s the rule. You either pick on Mel Gibson (because why wouldn’t you?) or you say funny things about famous peoples love lives. Taylor Swift is fair game, as she writes a shit load of songs about her love life and makes bazillions from it.

And yet she gets all annoyed when two classy broads make light of her situation.

‘I hate you, I hate Adele, I hate Harry Styles. I HATE EVERYONE! AND NOW I’M GOING TO WRITE ABOUT IT!’

And everyone else is like…

‘I don’t know who that girl is but I wish she’d smile more.’

(Though, to be fair, she is good at writing about her exes, so she may as well. And she looked pretty. And she’d just lost out on an award. MAYBE I’M BEING TOO HARSH.)

…then I think, no. Tommy Lee Jones has it right. She should smile more.

Ps. There were some very pretty dresses on the red carpet last night but it’s late and I’m tired. I’ll do a massively massive Oscar night post where I critique dresses and say they look like bin liners and stuff. Trust me, you’ll love it.

Nail Art: My Nails Are All Dressed Up!

I’ve wanted to do these ever since I saw Zooey Deschanel’s nails at the Golden Globes a few months ago. I’m not completely happy with them, but for a first attempt they’re not bad!!

I’m going to the hairdressers this afternoon for the first time in nearly a year- I hate hairdressers, they never seem to get my hair exactly how I want it! If it does turn out okay, I’ll post a picture. If not, I will be wearing a bag over my head until it grows out.

Golden Globe Round Up

I’ll admit, I didn’t make it to the end of the Golden Globes last night- it got to 3.30am and I was falling asleep so I made my way to bed pretty certain I wasn’t going to miss anything too drastic. George Clooney and the Descendants obviously won the night, as did The Artist (so happy about that because it is an amazing film!) There wasn’t even that many upsets on the red carpet either, which is both good and bad; good for them, bad for me. There are only so many times you can feel envious of a dress without hoping that the next one to appear will look like a bin bag.

So, my predictions from last night were pretty much all wrong…as I predicted!! On the most part I’m glad I was wrong though, because I chose the people I thought would win as opposed to who I wanted to win. The biggest let down for me was Tilda Swinton being robbed by Meryl Streep for Best Actress. But never mind! On the plus side, Downton Abbey scooped Best Mini Series, which is amazing!

On to the dresses…

Zooey Deschanel

Berenice Bejo

Kate Beckinsale

Sarah Michelle Gellar

Charlize Theron

Rooney Mara

Salma Hayek

Lea Michelle

Emma Stone

Michelle Williams

None of the pictures above are mine, obviously! If you want to see some more, as these are only a few of the wonderful dresses, WireImage have the best selection.

I haven’t included Angelina Jolie in my list because I was really underwhelmed with her outfit; okay, she looked pretty stunning, but compared with last year, it was pretty boring. There were so many other stars looking better than her but because she’s Angelina Jolie she got a lot of hype, while others went unnoticed.

Emma Stone was my personal favourite in a raspberry Lanvin gown with eagle belt detail. She looked edgy but classy at the same time. Lea Michelle went daring in Marchesa, and Charlize Theron looked stunning in Dior. I wasn’t a fan of Rooney Mara’s look; it seemed a bit boring, and her hair looked grim. But everywhere else, people are raving about her, so what do I know!!

I had an amazing time watching last night- though I’ve probably missed a dress that was equally as stunning as the one’s I’ve chosen!

Let me know if you think I have!

The Golden Globes LIVE with Ryan Seacrest (joke, it’s just me…)

Because I’m sat in the UK, where it is currently 11.07pm, normally I would be getting in my p j’s ready for sleepy time. But tonight, it’s the Golden Globes and I am SO EXCITED! It’s like my warm up to the Academy Awards, and usually you can get a feel of who’s going to win what with how the GG’s play out.

And so instead of being in bed, I have brought my duvet downstairs, along with my trusty Macbook, I’ve made myself a hot chocolate and I m snuggling down for the night! Hopefully Ricky Gervais can keep me awake in the early hours of Monday morning!

To get into the spirit of the night, I’ve decided to put a few predictions down on here, and then I can have a good laugh at how wrong I am when the results are announced.

Best Motion Picture- Drama: The Descendants.

Best Performance- Actress- Drama: Tilda Swinton

Best Performance- Actor- Drama: George Clooney

Best Motion Picture- Comedy/Musical: The Artist

Best Performance- Actress- Comedy/Musical: Michelle Williams

Best Performance- Actor- Comedy/Musical: Ryan Gosling

Best Animated Film: Rango

Best Foreign Language Film: In the Land of Blood and Honey

Best Supporting Performance- Actress: Jessica Chastain

Best Supporting Performance- Actor: Albert Brooks

Best Director: Alexander Payne

I think if I try and get into the TV nominations, I’ll miss half the dresses being shown so let me just say Zooey Deschanel and Downton Abbey for the win!

And obviously, half the show is the dresses!!! I predict big things from Charlize Theron, Anjelina Jolie, Michelle Williams, Lea Michelle and Natalie Portman- if she shows, because there was a rumour she’d be handing out an award.

Thanks to the LIFE website, I’ve been kept occupied all night with looking back at a few of the great GG dresses.
