Oscars: The After Party (Vanity Fair Style, Yo)

‘Wait, you’re not doing a full blown Oscar dress post? With designer commentary, tiaras and sparkles?!’

Well, no. Because everything was so DULL this year!

There was just no ‘OH MY GOD, HER LEG LOOKS LIKE IT’S POSSESSED!’ moment. Everyone looked fairly safe (though kudos on the animal accessories, Quvenzhané Wallis. I now want a bag shaped like a dog.)

Everyone knows the after party is where it’s at. After the 10 hour show, everyone’s like ‘Uh, get me out of this couture shit, I have’t been able to eat all day in case I spill something on it. GET IT OFF ME!’

And POOF, some magic clothes fairy comes and brings them a rocking frock that they can get their groove on in.

So these are my favourites. We will probably have to agree to disagree on some of them.

1. Jessica Day (aka Zooey Deschanel) rocking some old lady chic. But in the best way possible.

2. Lily Collins. Top half- flowers, pretty, kind of naked? Bottom half- Retro mermaid.

3. This doesn’t even need justifying. Jennifer Lawrence looks good in Calvin Klein.

4. Mrs. Bloom. Going all Gatsby on us. Love it.

What were your favourite looks from last night?

More London- time visits (because now I live here I have to make the most of it!) Fortnum & Mason is a beautiful department store near Piccadilly Circus. They sell luxury goods (but also claim to have invented the scotch egg, which is the least classy foodstuff ever invented.)

The cakes look amazing, but cost about as much as my weekly food shop, so I thought it might be best to just take pictures of them and buy cheaper cake from Sainsburys.

Photography: London

My Dad is an amateur photographer, and when my family came to visit last weekend he decided to give Buckingham Palace a miss and have a few hours taking photographs instead!

He’s never shown his photos to anybody before, so I will give anyone who likes or comments a cyber HIGH FIVE!!!

Obviously, only be constructive; I don’t want to have to tell my dad that some top photography blogger has told him his photos are shit.

Cheers!

Walking in Wentworth (and talks of Downton…)

I went on a lovely family walk today around a little village not too far away from where I live called Wentworth. The Wentworth estate was owned by one of the most influential families in Britain up until the mid 20th century. The Fitzwilliam family sold off a lot of their properties in the 1980s, and the biggest house on their estate (and the largest house front in the WHOLE of Great Britain) sadly fell into a state of disrepair.

Ever since I was a little girl, I’ve wanted to be able to see inside Wentworth Woodhouse. It’s such a beautiful building, it used to make me sad that nobody was using it. There are rumours that the house will be turned into a luxury spa and hotel in the near future- I really hope it does, because a house as beautiful as this one deserves to be used and enjoyed!

I’m so lucky to live close by so I can admire it at my leisure. It makes me think of Downton Abbey, grand dinner parties and receptions for monarchs and heads of state. (Kings and Queens were known to visit Wentworth Woodhouse and were entertained in a 365 roomed house. I would definitely have got lost!)

Compared to this, Downton Abbey looks like a shed!

(I really think my little old iPhone did well as a camera for the day. Let me know what you think!)
