Kensington Palace Visit (or THAT TREE LOOKS LIKE A PENIS AND THE WALLS ARE TALKING!)

So I went to a palace at the weekend. And it wasn’t as palace-y as you’d expect.

I cropped the picture above, but you can probably still see part of a bright yellow digger in the corner. Kensington Palace is currently undergoing some kind of building work. Not sure how they’re going to make it better- we thought this was the  back, because it is a pretty horrible red brick building.

Saying that, it is in a nice park, so it’s not all bad. And it has a nice statue of Queen Victoria (made by her daughter, Louise. Check me and my Victorian knowledge.)

Inside, it’s pretty disappointing. Out of all the historical places I’ve visited in London, it’s the one I enjoyed least (though the company was excellent- my housemate Claire kept me entertained by pointing out phallic trees and books filled with countless job possibilities.)

Is that not just the best job in the world? Anyway, Kensington Palace was a massive let down because of 3 things.

1. Half the rooms were empty. Pretty rubbish, considering I’d paid £13.20 to get in.

2. The rooms that did have things in them didn’t really explain what the things were. I like to learn!

And 3. There was a ‘hidden door’ in one of the rooms (like in Downton Abbey, natch) and I was very excited to go and find it, but when we got there it had been propped open. I mean, what’s the point of having a hidden door if you’re going to reveal it straight away?

There is no point.

It wasn’t all bad though. We got to see some nice paintings, and I learnt about how Queen Anne had lots of children that died (so sad!) And I saw many penis shaped trees.

So that was my weekend!

(I look scared in the window booth picture because when I sat down the walls started talking to me and it was unexpected.)

Nail Art: Elmo

Nail Art: Orange on Black

Nothing too fancy today I’m afraid- I’m waiting until I have a full day free so I can try something a bit different- any suggestions would be welcome!

I used Barry M as usual- thoughts?

Nail Art: Animal Faces

I was experimenting with different animals last night and these were my favourites!

They are a little bit messy, so if you couldn’t tell, there’s a pig, a penguin, a hippo, a rabbit and a giraffe!

The pig is my favourite! Which is yours?

Nail Art: Black and Nude

After last night’s failed attempt, I think I may actually be in love with my nails!

As always, let me know what you think! 🙂

I used Barry M Black and OPI Sweet Memories 31.

Nail Art: Dandelions

After neglecting my nails for a few days I decided to do something easy for a relaxing Easter Sunday. Unfortunately, they turned out like this!

They’re not even that bad, but for some reason they don’t look how I want them to. I will definitely be redoing them tomorrow, and fingers crossed they look much better!

Nail Art: Easter!

My first attempt at Easter nails- I’ll probably try again later this week, but I didn’t think it was a bad first try!

Nail Art: Bath Time Ducks

As always, please let me know what you think! 🙂

Nail Art: I’m Going Dotty For Spots!

Wanted something easy but cute- I was going to do balloons but think I’ll be saving that for next time 🙂

The little tuxedos I did last time will be repeated at some point too, because the black and white nail polish I used proved totally useless! They chipped after a day and took 20 minutes to scrubs off with nail polish remover! Granted, they were free, but I wasn’t expecting them to be so horrible! The black was the worst- I have used them before, but not to cover a whole nail. Fingers crossed next time will be better!!!

To name and shame, the polishes in question are J17- so not an amazing brand for nail polishes anyway!

Yes, that is Lord of the Rings on the background! I’m just that cool!

Nail Art: My Nails Are All Dressed Up!

I’ve wanted to do these ever since I saw Zooey Deschanel’s nails at the Golden Globes a few months ago. I’m not completely happy with them, but for a first attempt they’re not bad!!

I’m going to the hairdressers this afternoon for the first time in nearly a year- I hate hairdressers, they never seem to get my hair exactly how I want it! If it does turn out okay, I’ll post a picture. If not, I will be wearing a bag over my head until it grows out.
